About our Executive Leadership Training

Founded on the belief that great leadership is both learnable and measurable, Leadership Growth Path has spent over a decade helping organisations cultivate the leaders they need to thrive in an ever-changing world.

Our story

Leadership Growth Path was established in 2012 by Dr. Catherine Ellsworth, a former chief operating officer who recognised a critical gap in the executive development market. Too many programmes offered generic content delivered by facilitators who had never sat in a boardroom. Catherine set out to build something different — a firm where every coach and facilitator brings genuine senior leadership experience, where every programme is built around the specific context of the client, and where impact is measured with the same rigour applied to any other strategic investment.

From our base in Long Hoppeing, Scotland, we have grown from a solo consultancy into a team of fourteen dedicated professionals serving organisations across the United Kingdom, Europe and the Middle East. Our client list spans FTSE 250 corporations, fast-growing scale-ups, public-sector bodies and international non-governmental organisations. What unites our clients is a shared commitment to investing in their people as a source of sustainable competitive advantage.

Over the years, we have trained more than three thousand senior leaders, delivered programmes in twenty-two countries and maintained a client satisfaction score of ninety-seven percent. We are proud of these numbers, but what motivates us most is the individual transformations we witness — the quiet manager who finds her voice in the boardroom, the technical director who learns to inspire rather than instruct, the newly appointed CEO who discovers how to build a culture of trust from day one.

Our mission and values

Our mission is simple: to develop leaders who create organisations where people flourish and performance excels. Everything we do is guided by five core values that shape our culture, our programmes and our relationships with clients.

Evidence over opinion

We ground every programme in behavioural science, validated assessments and measurable outcomes. We do not rely on motivational platitudes — we use data to drive development and demonstrate return on investment to our clients and their stakeholders.

Courage in conversation

Real growth happens at the edge of comfort. Our facilitators and coaches are trained to challenge constructively, ask the difficult questions and hold leaders accountable to their own aspirations. We create psychologically safe spaces where candour is welcomed and defensiveness is gently set aside.

Partnership, not prescription

We see ourselves as collaborative partners, not external vendors. We invest time in understanding your organisation deeply, co-design solutions with your internal teams and transfer capability so that development continues long after our formal engagement ends.

Inclusivity and respect

Exceptional leadership is diverse leadership. We are committed to creating programmes that are inclusive by design, recognising that leaders from different backgrounds, identities and experiences bring unique strengths. Our content, case studies and facilitation methods reflect this commitment.

Continuous learning

We practise what we preach. Our team engages in ongoing professional development, peer supervision and research. We regularly update our methodologies to incorporate the latest findings from neuroscience, organisational psychology and leadership studies, ensuring our clients always receive cutting-edge content.

Our journey so far

Key milestones that have shaped Leadership Growth Path into the trusted partner organisations rely on today.

2012 — Founded in Edinburgh

Dr. Catherine Ellsworth launches Leadership Growth Path as a solo executive coaching practice, working with senior leaders in financial services and professional services firms across Scotland.

2014 — First bespoke programme

We design and deliver our first fully customised leadership development programme for a FTSE 250 energy company, training forty-eight senior managers over six months. The programme becomes a template for our signature approach.

2016 — Team expansion

The team grows to eight professionals, including our first dedicated programme designers and a head of coaching. We move to our current training centre in Long Hoppeing, providing a dedicated space for immersive leadership retreats.

2018 — International reach

We deliver our first programmes outside the United Kingdom, working with clients in Germany, the Netherlands and the United Arab Emirates. Our blended delivery model — combining in-person workshops with virtual coaching — proves highly effective for global teams.

2021 — Digital transformation

In response to the global pandemic, we accelerate our digital capabilities, launching a fully virtual programme platform and an on-demand leadership resource library. Client engagement remains strong, and we achieve our highest satisfaction scores to date.

2024 — Three thousand leaders milestone

We celebrate having trained over three thousand senior leaders across twenty-two countries. We also launch our Emerging Leaders Accelerator, a programme specifically designed for high-potential managers preparing for their first executive role.
